Non-urgent advice: Primary Prevention

Advice on:

  • Smoking
  • Alcohol consumption
  • Diet 
  • Immunisation

Non-urgent advice: Carers

If you are caring for a chronically ill family member or friend, your GP can provide you with information on the support available to you in this very important role.

Non-urgent advice: Smoking Cessation

Your local pharmacy provides smoking cessation support, alternatively please speak to your GP regarding smoking cessation therapy. Your GP can prescribe Nicotine Replacement Therapy and can provide you with smoking cessation literature.

Non-urgent advice: Antenatal and postnatal Care

Pregnant ladies can choose the type of care they would prefer. This may be:

  • Shared care with the hospital and GP/community midwife
  • Care by a midwife-led team at the hospital
  • Private care

 

Non-urgent advice: Family Planning

All doctors in the surgery can provide advice on contraception and Family Planning. Dr O'Gara and Dr Collins are qualified in the insertion of coils/intrauterine contraception. Dr O'Gara is also qualified in insertion and removal of hormonal implants (nexplanon). If you wish to discuss any of these methods please contact reception to arrange a telephone appointment with either Dr O'Gara or Dr Collins.

Non-urgent advice: Flu/Pneumonia Vaccinations

In accordance with Department of Health guidelines, we recommend an influenza plus pneumonia vaccination for patients over 65 years of age, patients with diabetes, chronic heart, lung or kidney disease and residents of nursing and rest homes. Eligible patients will be conctacted with information on upcoming vaccination clinics.

Non-urgent advice: Joint Injections & Minor Surgery

Dr Connolly, Dr Dorman and Dr Robinson can offer some joint injections, including knee, shoulder and for Tochanteric bursitis. If you wish to discuss any of these please make an appointment with one of the above GPs. They also offer minor surgery for certain skin conditions.
